In this invited virtual lecture - “A Plain and Sacred Vision: On Artmaking, Love songs, and Building Community in Times of War” - I gathered the UT Dallas community around some of my creative work, the scholarship that emerged from it, and how that might enhance our communal engagement on questions of religion, visual culture, and global race-making. In 2024, Dr. Taurean Webb was awarded a Crossroads Project Arts Fellowship to the display of his debut art exhibition at the historic Trinity United Church of Christ (Chicago) and the completion of the exhibit’s companion documentary-style short film.
